Policies, Rules & Ethics
The Northbrook Hockey League aims to provide a positive environment for our youth (from Mini Mites through Bantams) to play hockey and have fun while doing it. Sportsmanship plays a big part in enabling the environment players thrive in.
All players are expected to show respect to teammates, coaches, managers, officials, parents, and opponents. Bullying and inappropriate behavior of any kind will not be tolerated. Please refer to the Code of Conduct and the Technology and Anti-Bullying Policy for more information.
Our players look to us as adults: parents & coaches, for cues on how to handle tough moments, close calls, and the natural frustrations that come with competitive games. When we stay positive, supportive, and composed, we set the tone for them to do the same. Encouraging our players—no matter the outcome—goes a long way toward creating a positive atmosphere. Yelling at referees, players, coaches, officials, or other parents will not be tolerated and does not reflect the respectful community we aim to foster.
We ask that you support our efforts by periodically discussing these expectations with your players and by modeling the kind of sportsmanship we hope to see on and off the ice.
Let’s cheer loudly for our teams and encourage all players. Go Bluehawks!
