Instructional Hockey Classes
The Northbrook Bluehawks have partnered with the Northbrook Park District to offer hockey classes to children with little to no hockey experience. Registration is through the Nortbrook Park District at and classes are taught by the Northbrook Bluehawks coaching staff. Classes are offered throughout the year.
Learn to Skate/Play Classes
Ages: 4-14
Intro to Hockey: Introduce your child to hockey in a fun and safe environment with NBHL/Bluehawks instruction. Classes focus on basic skating skills required for team play.
Hockey 1: The pre-mite program is for beginning hockey players who have progressed through Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey classes. These skaters are ready to learn and develop more challenging hockey skills. Skaters will begin playing small games and scrimmages.
Mite/Squirt Powerskate
Ages: Mite & Squirt
Powerskate: Great for both Mite and Squirt House or Travel players. This powerskating clinic focuses on teaching proper skating techniques to increase skating efficiency and effectiveness. Players practice stride technique, skating with the puck, and skating with the puck under pressure situations.

Can classes be prorated if I miss the starting date?
Yes. Classes can be prorated if you miss the starting date.
What is full hockey equipment?
Full hockey equipment is shin pads, hockey pants, shoulder pads, elbow pads, athletic supporter with velcro to attach hockey socks, helmet, neck guard, hockey gloves, hockey skates, and a stick (wood with flat blade is perfect for beginners!)
Pure Hockey and Play it Again Sports are two great options to purchase equipment.
